Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance)
According to the Private Security Industry Authority Act, passed out in the year 2001, all persons willing to work in a private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a particular licence.
We truly empower learners to progress onto the SVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further studies in other departments of the private security industry such as Security Guarding or Door Supervision.
The qualification comprises 2 units (compulsory):
- Unit 1 – Principles of working in the private security industry
- Unit 2 – Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry
Assessment:
Unit 1 - Principles of working in the private security industry
Knowledge assessment method:
- Externally set and marked multiple choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 72 questions (110 minutes) Pass mark = 70%.
Practical assessment method:
- Externally set, internally assessed activity based on the completion of an evidential statement Pass mark = 100%.
Unit 2 - Principles and Practices of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry
Knowledge assessment method:
- Externally set and marked MCQ exam made up of 40 questions (60 minutes) Pass mark = 70%.
Practical assessment method:
- Externally set and internally assessed practical CCTV scenario with portfolio and observation sheet Pass mark – 100% And Externally set and internally assessed workbook Pass mark = 80% for the short answer element of workbook The practical assessment for each learner must be visually recorded and is recommended to take approximately 25 minutes per learner.
Minimum contact time:
Minimum contact time (MCT) for this course is 31 hours stipulated by the SIA The SIA stipulates a minimum of 22 contact hours (3-days) if self-study is undertaken.
