About This Course

Manual handling is the transportation or support of a load, including lifting. A load is an object, person, or animal. A load is not a tool being used for its normal purpose, such as a chainsaw in normal use.

Employers are required to avoid manual handling operations and where this is not possible, reduce the risk of injury so far as is reasonably practicable.  You also have a responsibility to take reasonable care of your own health and safety.
