Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer

According to the Private Security Industry Authority Act, passed out in the year 2001, all persons willing to work in a private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a certain licence.

Keeping this in view, Sentinel Academy’s Level 2 Award in Security Guarding has been formulated to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

The qualification comprises 3 units (compulsory):

Notably, our Door Supervisor course can empower the learner to thrive in the NVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further learning in various departments of the private security industry such as CCTV Operations or Security Guarding.

Minimum contact time:

Based on the relevant SIA ‘Specifications for Learning and Qualifications for CCTV Control Room Operators (PSS)’, our instructors are keen to teach all necessary skills as well as knowledge to those willing to apply for an SIA license, needed to work as a CCTV Operator.

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.

The qualification is designed to meet and comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. It covers regulations, the fire triangle, evacuation, fire equipment, good housekeeping, the law, training requirements, calling the fire service, fire doors, smoke alarms, risk assessing and precautions.

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF)

This course is targeted at all individuals who’d wish to take further training or professionals, who want to acquire knowledge about the skills in basic life support. Preferably, this qualification is suitable for first aiders at the workplace and even for schoolchildren, as recommended by The Resuscitation Council (UK).

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

A comprehensive 1-day course allowing a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who’s injured or becomes ill at work. Suitable for all those working environments where there’s a minimal record of hazards along with a limited staff.

Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance)

According to the Private Security Industry Authority Act, passed out in the year 2001, all persons willing to work in a private security industry must undertake a recognized qualification before applying for a particular license.

We truly empower learners to progress onto the SVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further studies in other departments of the private security industry such as Security Guarding or Door Supervision.

The minimum contact time (MCT) for this course is 23 hours stipulated by the SIA.

Highfield Level 2 Award for Door supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Top Up)

  The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is designed for learners who currently hold a license from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new license-linked qualifications requirements. How long will it take? To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 23 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 13 hours and 35 minutes of contact time (2-days) if self-study is undertaken. Please refer to Highfield's qualification specification for further details on self-study.
