Changes to SIA licence-linked training: Flowchart

Changes to the training you need for an SIA licence

SIA (ACS) have made some changes to the training you need to take before you can get a front-line SIA licence. In this article, let’s find out new requirements and how Sentinel Academy helps you to get new SIA or Door Supervisor license at affordable prices.

The changes are:

  • introduced new, updated qualifications for all sectors except close protection and vehicle immobilisation
  • must have a first aid qualification before an applicant can take the training required for a door supervisor or security guard licence (new application)

New requirement: First aid training

The first aid qualification has already been made mandatory for applicants for a close protection licence. Now SIA (ACS) expect applicants for a door supervisor or security guard licence to do the same.

An applicant will need to do this if either of the following apply:

  • applying for a licence for the first time
  • it has been longer than 3 years since an individual last held a licence for that activity

From 1 October 2021, an applicant will also need to do this before renewing the licence.

The qualification must be an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent.

Sentinel Academy delivers a high level of quality training, which meet and exceed the industry standards for both learning experience and price.

Check out our Emergency First Aid at Work training course which is especially designed to offer a comprehensive 1-day course allowing a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who’s injured or becomes ill at work.
